Register for the annual Washington visit

The OBA has scheduled its annual Washington Visit for Sunday, Sept. 11, through Tuesday, Sept. 13, with departures from Washington on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011.

We have a block of rooms at the Hay-Adams Hotel, which just last year went through another multi-million dollar renovation. Requests for meetings have been submitted including meetings with Elizabeth Warren at the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the FDIC, the OCC, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and the Federal Reserve.

Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend! This is a very important trip for our industry and we need to demonstrate to Washington that we are serious about the future of our industry and we are a united force. For further information contact Myrna Kay Smith at myrnakay@oba.com.

The State Chamber is also planning an optional dinner at the Mt. Vernon Estate Tuesday evening, Sept. 13, and have invited the bankers to attend as well. This intimate event, which is being sponsored by The State Chamber, BancFirst and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, was made possible because of Former Gov. Frank Keating's recent appointment to the Mt. Vernon Estate Board of Advisors in Washington, D.C.

This is an unique opportunity you will not want to miss! They will provide transportation to and from the estate, and the event will include an appetizer and drinks reception, a candlelight tour of George Washington's home and a sit-down dinner. Dinner guests will be welcomed by Gov. Keating followed by a presentation from Mt. Vernon Estate President James C. Rees, who will talk about the history of Mt. Vernon and the area. Seating is limited for this optional event, so please reserve your seats today by clicking here.
