ABA releases ads in fight against credit union bill

ABA President and CEO Frank Keating recently said the ABA is employing every available resource in the important battle against Sen. Mark Udall's (D-Colo.) bill (S. 2231), including ads in Capitol Hill publications and on Washington, D.C.'s top-rated radio station.

Udall's bill wouldmore than double the business-lending cap for certain credit unions.

“These ads focus attention on the fact that the $1 trillion credit union industry's tax exemption already deprives the U.S. Treasury of nearly $2 billion annually,” he said. “Expanding credit union powers will make matters worse by steering business away from tax-paying community banks to tax-dodging institutions.”
