Paycheck Protection Program extension approved by Senate; Republican 5th District primary moves to runoff

The U.S. Senate approved an extension of the Paycheck Protection Program late last night.

The PPP was set to expire at the end of Tuesday. The Program will still be paused following the Senate’s action as the U.S. House must also approve the extension. Once approved, the new deadline would be extended until Aug. 8.

There is approximately $130 billion remaining in the Program.

Also, Terry Neese and Stephanie Bice emerged during Tuesday night’s election from the crowded field of Republicans vying for the party’s nomination for the 5th District U.S. Congressional seat in Oklahoma.

Neese and Bice will compete in a runoff on Aug. 25 to see who will face incumbent Rep. Kendra Horn in November.

Neese won 36.5% of the vote on Tuesday, while Bice received 25.3.
